Having a few days between our stay in Lake Bled and when we were travelling to Italy, we took the advice of the hostel owner in Bled and headed to Bovec for a few days.

8th September – 12th September

Having spent the previous day cycling, we decided to have a ‘rest’ on our next day, and took advantage of a drop off from our hostel at the Vintgar Gorge. The Vintgar Gorge is a 1.6km long gorge that has been carved out by the Radovna River. We snaked our way along the path through the gorge, past rapids, vibrant blue/green pools and 50-100m high canyon walls. Continue reading More Lake Bled, and more cycling.

I had fairly high expectations for Lake Bled, having previously seen so many stunning photos online. And for me, it didn’t disappoint. The Lake was beautiful, made even more so by the huge mountain ranges that provide a backdrop. But as pretty as the lake was, the surrounding area, with all its tiny villages, dramatic mountains, gorges and grassy green valleys for me was even more incredible. After what felt like quite a while in Croatia, we eventually made our way to Slovenia. I was actually quite looking forward to a change of scenery.
