Next stop – Seville.  I really didn’t remember all that much from the last time we visited years ago.  That said, we had decided to forgo some of the sightseeing and instead went to the theme park so maybe that was the reason.  But I really loved Seville this time.. there was a buzzing atmosphere with people spilling out of bars and cafes onto the street, families hanging out in the squares and just a general sense of activity.

It wasn’t all rosy though, as we did realise just why Seville has a terrible reputation for driving and particularly parking anywhere near the centre.  It was crazy.  Finding a car park is like winning lotto – even the expensive multi-storey carparks were full.  But after innumerable laps, a few frustrated spats at each other in the car and a few euros to one of the parking ‘helpers’ (random people who just stake claim an area of parking and direct people to free spaces.. generally with the expectation of payment) we managed to get a spot, problem solved.

So off we went to enjoy Seville.  We visited the moorish palace and gardens of the Alcazar, with their incredible tile work, known as some of the most beautiful in Spain.  We rambled through the cobblestone streets, felt sorry for all the horses utilised for tourist carriage rides and of course enjoyed some more Sangria and tapas (god I love you Spain!).

Seville, Spain. You can find the very classic Spanish buildings all through the old area of Seville. This was one such example.

The Metropole Parasol, Seville. This incredible construction sits in the middle of a large square/open space in the city. I am not sure exactly what its purpose is? All i know is you can walk on the roof, sit under it, admire it.. I thought it was pretty impressive.

After a fun couple of days in Seville it was time to hit the capital.. Madrid!
