Zadar, Croatia

29th August – 1 September

Zadar, Croatia. I really quite liked Zadar. It was quiet and the old town was pretty.

After another two nights in Split with Dash (again, not a fan of Split, so I was happy to be heading on somewhere else), we made our way to Zadar for a few nights.  So while Split = shit, Zadar = rad-er.

Zadar is, in my opinion, much nicer than Split.  The water was clean and it was nice to jump off the big boardwalk areas into the ocean.  There is also a cool experimental music project in the form of a sea organ.  Music is created by the movement of the waves and a series of tubes in the large area of marble steps on the waters edge.  The sunsets in Zadar are also beautiful, with the sun setting behind the silhouette of the nearby island.

The boats sailing past Zadar at dusk. Again, a pretty beautiful sight.

The absolutely stunning sunset in Zadar. It is no wonder Ernest Hemmingway claimed these were the best sunsets in the world.

This view just couldn't get any better really.

From Zadar we also did a day trip to the Plitvice Lakes National Park.  This place was incredible.. I will do a separate post for this, as I may have gone a tad overboard with the photos there!
