Wallis Road, Hackney Wick, London. This was our home for a while.. Through the front door, not the dumpster that is.

After our week in Berlin we headed back to London. I needed to have another surgery to remove one of the screws in my leg, and the thought of trying to navigate the hospital system in Germany again was not that appealing. So London it was for the next two months while I got back to walking again.

We found a great room in a warehouse apartment in Hackney Wick. Our housemates, Sarah and Julia were lovely.  It was a really cool area to be staying for a while. I loved the industrial feel, cool street art and little cafes/bars on the canal.

Street art, Hackney Wick. There is so much cool graffiti and artworks on the streets in this area. I definitely recommend anyone visiting London to visit, have a wander around and stop in at one of the cool canal bars/cafes.

When our time there came to an end, we were fortunate enough to move in just down the road with Sarah’s boyfriend James for another fortnight. This came with a great view over the canal and the Olympic park area. It also meant learning that there is such a thing as ‘real tennis’, and it’s not regular tennis, Google it.

The canals of Hackney Wick, London. This was the one James' apartment looked over. Quite nice!

Aaah, something quite nice about wandering (or hobbling on crutches) along the canal.

Once I was crutches free and back to walking we managed a few day trips to explore around London. This is Greenwich, it is a really pretty and quiet oasis with a nice view from the observatory on the hill.

Oxford, UK. The old university buildings are beautiful.
